Outings with Jules in Amiens
Beyond the boat trip through the heart of the Hortillonnages, Jules offers several ways to discover Amiens: from the water, on foot in Saint-Leu, in a workshop, as a family or as a group. This page brings together the existing formats to help you choose and take the next step (book, or ask for a format that suits you).

One naturalist guide, several formats
Jules is a naturalist guide with a master's degree in ecology, based in Amiens. Through Ecologik, Jules offers guided outings that all share the same approach: observing the city and its water, taking your time, explaining simply, without jargon or a non-stop commentary.
Depending on your wishes, the group and the season, this approach takes several forms: a boat trip through the heart of the Hortillonnages, a walking tour of Saint-Leu, a nature workshop, an outing as a family or as a group. This hub lists the formats currently offered.
The boat trip through the heart of the Hortillonnages
This is the signature outing. It starts and ends at the Île au Fagot footbridge, in front of the Les Artillonnages gallery: the trip is a loop through the heart of the Hortillonnages, along the canals, the plants and the birds — the current duration is shown on the offer. The boat is shared in a small group, not counting babies carried in arms.
Current prices (adult, child aged 3 to 11, babies and dogs free) are shown when you book. For a group, you can choose the whole boat — an option at any group size, with its flat rate shown before payment.
This is the format you can book directly online, through the time-slot calendar.
Discovering Saint-Leu on foot, or as a combined outing
In 2026, Saint-Leu is discovered on foot. Jules offers walking tours of the district and its heritage — lanes, bridges, the waterside, the cathedral (outside), the citadel depending on the format — to read the city in another way than through an exhaustive historical commentary. Walking tours are in small groups.
To link the water and the district, the combined outing follows the boat trip in the Hortillonnages with a walk to Saint-Leu. The boat trip through Saint-Leu itself will return in 2027.
Nature workshops
Ecologik also runs themed workshops about nature — for instance a plant-ink workshop using local plants, in a short format suited to families, schools or a small group of adults.
These formats are arranged on request, depending on the season and on Jules's availability. They are handled on quotation through the contact page.
For families and children
The boat trip suits families: a separate child rate from 3 to 11, babies under 3 free and carried in arms (they do not count towards the seats of the boat), dogs welcome free of charge. A walking tour of Saint-Leu can also suit young children who would not sit through the whole trip on the water.
For a format more focused on observation and nature activities outside school, specific outings for children exist. Teachers and educational organisations have their own entry: an outing led by Jules, naturalist guide, on quotation.
For a group, a team or a school
The boat is booked in a small group (babies carried in arms not counted), and you can also take the whole boat to be on your own; walking tours are in small groups — current capacities on each offer. For a larger group, several successive time slots or a combined boat + walk format are possible.
Team outings (team building, seminars), groups, associations and school trips are always handled on quotation through the contact page or the groups / businesses page, never through the public calendar — the group size and its constraints call for a conversation first.
Good places around the outing
Around Saint-Leu and the Hortillonnages, Jules knows the district and can point you to good places to extend the outing: a terrace, a restaurant, a cultural venue. These are recommendations: drinks, meals or purchases are paid directly to the venue. Ecologik charges for the trip and the guiding, never for the products of a third party.
How to choose and what to do next
For a weekend visitor or an outing for two: the boat trip through the heart of the Hortillonnages, bookable directly online, is the simplest way in. See the available time slots on the tours page.
For a family with children aged 3 and over: same format, same calendar — simply mention babies and dogs when booking.
To discover Saint-Leu on foot: the walking tours and the combined boat + walk outing are booked online, in the same calendar. For a workshop, a school trip or a group: go through the contact page or the groups / businesses page with a few details (group size, planned date, project). Jules comes back with a suitable proposal.

Can we come with a baby or a dog?
Yes, both. Babies under 3 are free and stay in the arms of a parent (they do not count towards the seats of the boat). Dogs are welcome free of charge, under the responsibility of the person with them; declaring them is mandatory on a shared boat, so the other passengers know.

In 2026, the boat trip is a loop through the heart of the Hortillonnages, from the Île au Fagot. Saint-Leu is discovered on foot (walking tours) or through the combined outing, which follows the boat trip in the Hortillonnages with a walk to the district. How do I organise an outing for a group, a team or a school?
Go through the contact page or the groups / businesses page, giving the group size, the planned date, the format you would like (boat, on foot, workshop, combined) and the context (team, school, association). Jules, naturalist guide, comes back with a proposal on quotation — successive time slots for a large group, or a combined boat + walk format.
