Family activity in Amiens: a boat tour with Jules
Looking for a calm activity in Amiens with children? Ecologik offers a boat tour guided by Jules: the Hortillonnages escapade, a loop from Île au Fagot, different enough to leave a real memory. To discover Saint-Leu as a family, Jules also offers walking tours.
Why it suits families
Online booking, a small group aboard, a calm pace along the water: different enough for the children to still talk about it the next day, without heavy logistics. Babies free in arms, dogs welcome free of charge, and you can book the whole boat if you prefer to be alone with your family.
Prices are the same for everyone, with no surprise when you pay: the up-to-date prices (adult, child aged 3 to 11, babies and dogs free) are shown when you book.
Babies and young children
Babies under 3 are free and take no seat on the boat, as they stay in a parent’s arms. They must still be declared when booking.
When you book, babies appear with their own icon 👶 to avoid any ambiguity.
Booking the whole boat as a family
Families may prefer the whole boat, to be alone with Jules. It is an option, whatever the size of the group: the exact price is shown when you book, and your total never exceeds this flat rate. Useful for large or multi-generation families.
Before you come
Suitable clothing, weather, dogs, children, accessibility, arriving late, meeting point, how to reach Jules: everything is covered on the Practical information page.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the official Hortillonnages tour?
No. Ecologik Amiens offers a boat escapade guided by Jules, separate from the official Hortillonnages tour: that one has its own starting point, its own route and its own ticket office. The Ecologik escapade is a different local experience, along the water and through the nature of Amiens.
Where does the tour start?
The meeting point depends on the tour you choose: it is always shown before booking and repeated in the confirmation email. The boat tour in the heart of the Hortillonnages starts and ends at Île au Fagot (a loop). The walking tours of Saint-Leu start at Place du Don. The boat tour through Saint-Leu returns next season.
Are dogs welcome?
Yes, dogs come free of charge. On the shared boat, one dog per booking, declared when booking so the other passengers know, kept on a lead and under the responsibility of the person accompanying it. When you book the whole boat, several dogs are possible.
Do babies take a seat on the boat?
No. Babies under 3 are free and take no seat on the boat, as they are carried in a parent’s arms. They must still be declared when booking.
From what age does a child pay?
The child price applies from 3 to 11 years inclusive. Children under 3 are free.
Is the tour too long for children?
The boat escapade takes the time of a real outing, calmly, along the water — the exact duration is shown on the tour. For a shorter format with young children, a walking tour of Saint-Leu can be a good alternative.
Can we bring a pushchair?
A pushchair is not promised as accepted aboard without confirmation. Contact Jules, depending on the starting point and the space available.
